Thinking About Living in Huntsville Country Club?

Huntsville Country Club, founded in 1925, is one of Huntsville's oldest private clubs, located in-town at 2601 Oakwood Ave NW rather than in a resort or mountainside setting. Its 18-hole course (Robert B. Harris design, later renovated by John LaFoy) plays 6,602 yards from the championship tees with Bermuda fairways and TifEagle bermudagrass greens, and the club completed a full driving range and short-game renovation in 2020 (a 28,000 sq ft range and a new 3,500 sq ft short-game green). The club has weathered real financial turbulence: it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2013, was purchased out of bankruptcy in 2014 by a group of six member-shareholders operating as Huntsville Golf Club, LLC, and most recently consolidated to sole ownership under member Beth Boyer, announced in February 2026.
Golf & Course
Designed originally by Robert B. Harris with a later renovation by John LaFoy, the course plays to a par of 71 across 6,602 championship yards (72.3/129 rating/slope).
Membership & Access
Does buying a home here include club membership?
Membership requires an initiation fee (amount not publicly published) plus ongoing dues; the club offers a 20% dues discount for first responders, educators, and active-duty military. Buying a home in the surrounding Oakwood-area neighborhood does not include or require club membership -- membership is a fully separate application process.
Living in Huntsville Country Club
Huntsville Country Club sits within Huntsville's established, central Oakwood-area neighborhood rather than a purpose-built golf subdivision; no dedicated residential development or HOA is organized around the club.
Lifestyle & Amenities
The club offers dining and premium practice facilities (driving range and short-game area, both renovated in 2020).
Location & Surrounding Area
