Willow Point Golf & Country Club, founded in 1961, was the first of Russell Lands' waterfront developments on Lake Martin and is widely regarded as the 'crown jewel' of the company's Lake Martin portfolio. The club and its surrounding neighborhood sit on a peninsula in the Parker Creek area, inside the city limits of Alexander City, with Lake Martin bordering the property on three sides -- 12 of the 18 holes play on or near the water, and the par-3 13th hole is a celebrated island green. The original Thomas H. Nicol design was renovated in 2005 by Hurdzan-Fry. Russell Lands purchased and rescued the struggling original venture in 1972 and has operated it since as part of its broader Lake Martin land holdings, which now include Willow Point, Wicker Point/The Heritage, and Russell Crossroads. Membership is by application only and requires sponsorship from a current member. Willow Point is also reportedly the only Lake Martin neighborhood with its own private airstrip.

An 18-hole, par-72 course originally designed by Thomas H. Nicol in 1961 and renovated in 2005 by Hurdzan-Fry, laid out along Lake Martin's shoreline with eight holes bordered directly by the lake and a celebrated par-3 island green at hole 13.
