The Broadmoor has been Colorado Springs' defining golf address since Donald Ross laid out its original course in 1918, and it remains the strongest destination-exception case in the Colorado Springs market: golf-oriented buyers are drawn to the area by the resort's national championship pedigree even though the golf club itself is invitation-only and not bundled with any home purchase. Its tournament history is genuinely major-championship caliber -- the U.S. Amateur (1959, where a 19-year-old Jack Nicklaus won the first USGA title of his career, and 1967), the U.S. Women's Open (1995, Annika Sorenstam's first major win, and 2011), and the U.S. Senior Open (2008, 2018, and 2025 on the East Course) -- and the USGA has already awarded The Broadmoor the 2031 and 2037 U.S. Senior Opens, a forward booking that keeps the resort's championship identity current rather than purely historical. Buyers should note precisely what this pedigree does and does not include: The Broadmoor has never hosted a men's U.S. Open, despite that claim appearing in some earlier secondary material; its actual USGA record is the Amateur/Women's Open/Senior Open history above.

The golf club itself currently operates two 18-hole courses, East and West, both tracing to Ross's 1918 design with major additions by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in the 1950s. A third course, the Mountain Course, has been closed since a 2015 landslide and had not reopened as of the most recent reporting found; the resort has discussed replacing it with a par-3 short course. The adjacent, gated Broadmoor Resort Community (roughly 573 acres, 200-plus single-family homes plus 63 villas and townhomes per real-estate sourcing) gives homeowners the opportunity to apply for Golf Club membership -- proximity and even ownership in the community do not themselves confer membership, which remains invitation-only and sponsor-based.

Golf & Course

Ross's original nine opened in 1918 (expanded to 18 by 1921), and Robert Trent Jones Sr. reworked and extended the layout in the early 1950s to create the East and West Courses used today; the East Course in particular has carried the club's modern championship record, hosting the 1995 and 2011 U.S. Women's Opens and the 2008, 2018, and 2025 U.S. Senior Opens. The separate Mountain Course (Arnold Palmer/Ed Seay, 1976; remodeled by Jack Nicklaus Design's Chris Cochran in 2006) closed after a May 2015 landslide damaged the site and, per the most recent reporting located, has not reopened -- the resort has instead discussed a smaller par-3 short course for part of that land.

Membership & Access

Does buying a home here include club membership?

No — homeownership does not automatically include membership. See details below.

Golf access runs through two separate doors: overnight resort guests can play as part of a stay, and separately, invitation-only Golf Club membership (sponsored by a current member) is available to individuals regardless of whether they own property in the adjacent Broadmoor Resort Community. Owning a home in the Resort Community does not include or guarantee membership -- it gives a homeowner the ability to apply, per real-estate sourcing describing the arrangement, which this research could not independently confirm against a first-party club membership document (club/HOA domains were not fetchable).
