Tiburon Golf Club opened in 1998 as a Greg Norman design built alongside The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples, on the north side of the city near Bonita Springs. The club operates 36 holes across two courses -- the Gold Course and the Black Course -- and is managed today by Troon as a semi-private facility connected to the Ritz-Carlton/JW Marriott resort complex, with membership open to both resort guests and Central Florida-area locals through Signature and Medallion tiers. Tiburon anchors a roughly 550-home residential area organized as a series of private, gated sub-communities rather than a single subdivision, giving it a different structural relationship to its surrounding real estate than most Naples golf communities: homeownership in Tiburon does not include club membership, which remains a separate purchase with its own tiers and privileges.
Golf & Course
Both Tiburon courses carry real PGA Tour and LPGA Tour pedigree. The Gold Course hosted the QBE Shootout -- an unofficial PGA Tour team event founded by Greg Norman in 1989 (originally the Shark Shootout, later the Merrill Lynch Shootout) -- every year from 2001 through 2022, after the event's first eleven years were played at Sherwood Country Club in California and one year at Doral. In 2023 the PGA Tour replaced it with the Grant Thornton Invitational, a 16-team, mixed PGA Tour/LPGA Tour event still played at Tiburon. Separately, the Gold Course has hosted the LPGA Tour's season-ending CME Group Tour Championship (known as the CME Group Titleholders from 2011-2013) every November since 2013, one of the largest purses in women's professional golf.
