Connect With a Local Real Estate Specialist

Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club's course, laid out by Tom Bendelow and opened in 1922, predates the city that grew up around it: Temple Terrace was founded in 1925 and promoted at the time as one of the first planned golf-course communities in the United States, with its Mediterranean Revival street grid built directly around the course.

That makes it a genuinely different model from Tampa's later gated golf subdivisions -- an entire small city, not a single subdivision, organized around one historic club. The club itself remains a private membership facility (Resident, Family, Young-Executive, Junior, Seasonal, Corporate, Social and Pool tiers), and living in the surrounding historic district -- itself unrestricted and non-gated -- carries no membership entitlement of its own.
