Glen Ridge Country Club
Founded by 14 charter members on October 10, 1894 (initiation fee then: $1.00; annual dues: $3.00) -- one of the first 100 golf clubs in the United States and probably the fourth in New Jersey. Willie Dunn Jr. designed the original 18-hole course; Willie Park Jr. substantially reworked it in 1919 into largely the layout played today. Incorporated as a stock company in 1911, then reorganized as the not-for-profit Glen Ridge Country Club in 1920.

What to Independently Verify
Glen Ridge is an unusually small, almost entirely residential Essex County borough where over 90% of the town sits within a single National Register Historic District; the golf club is a longstanding fixture of that same historic fabric, and local real-estate coverage credits the course with enhancing surrounding property values. Even so, homeownership anywhere in Glen Ridge does not include or require club membership -- confirm current access and fees directly with the club.
