Montclair Golf Club
Founded 1893, generally considered the 13th-oldest golf club in America. Tom Bendelow designed the first 18-hole course (1899); Donald Ross was commissioned in 1920 to design 27 holes across the first three nines; a fourth nine, designed by Charles Banks, was added by 1928, giving the club its current 36-hole, four-nine footprint. Note the address is West Orange despite the club's 'Montclair' name -- confirm this location precisely rather than assuming a Montclair Township address.

What to Independently Verify
Strictly invitation-only: prospective members must receive an invitation before applying, plus sponsorship and recommendations from current members. Note the club's 'Montclair' name but West Orange physical address -- a location detail worth double-checking, similar to the separate Upper Montclair Country Club/Clifton naming pattern in this same market. No evidence of a bundled residential development or homeowner-membership path was found.
