Metedeconk National Golf Club opened its first 18 holes in 1987 on a wooded, elevated 600-plus-acre site in the New Jersey Pine Barrens in Jackson Township, Ocean County, with a third nine added in 1998 to complete a 27-hole facility designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Roger Rulewich. The site was originally slated for a trailer-park development before the plan was scrapped in favor of a golf-only club. Membership is by invitation only, with guests permitted only when invited by a member.

The club has built a genuinely major amateur-golf tournament resume: it has hosted five Metropolitan Golf Association championships (including the 2012 MGA Senior Amateur), the Metropolitan Open, and the New Jersey Open, and in 2026 the USGA announced Metedeconk National as the host site for the 2029 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship -- the club's first-ever USGA championship. The Estates at Metedeconk National, a residential neighborhood bordering the club and carrying its name, gives the club a real (if not formally bundled) residential presence in Jackson Township; this research session found no evidence that homes in that neighborhood, or in the nearby Four Seasons at Metedeconk Lakes 55+ community, include or improve access to club membership.

Golf & Course

The 27-hole facility -- three combined 9-hole courses across more than 600 wooded acres -- was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Roger Rulewich, with the first 18 holes opening in 1987 and a third nine following in 1998. It has hosted five MGA championships, the Metropolitan Open, the New Jersey Open, and is scheduled to host the 2029 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball, its first USGA championship.
