Thinking About Living in Carmel Country Club?
Get connected with a local real-estate specialist who understands Carmel Country Club and the surrounding Charlotte golf market.
Carmel Country Club has operated since 1947 as a member-owned, invitation-only club in south Charlotte, with 36 holes across two 18-hole courses (North and South) and a membership reportedly capped and admitted on a 6-18 month timeline. It is frequently ranked among the region's top-tier clubs alongside Quail Hollow and Charlotte Country Club, and is a freestanding club rather than part of a bundled residential development -- the surrounding SouthPark/Carmel area is an established Charlotte neighborhood in its own right.
Golf & Course
Carmel opened in 1947 when 200 founding members each paid $250 to purchase a golf course abandoned after World War II. The North Course opened in 1950 to a George W. Cobb design and reopened after a John Fought-led renovation in September 2016. The South Course opened in 1962 to an Ellis Maples design (originally proposed as nine holes, expanded to 18 at the board's request) and was redesigned by Rees Jones between 2009 and 2011.
