Waynesborough Country Club was conceived in 1964 by twelve local business and professional men who saw a need for a family-oriented club serving the growing Upper Main Line. George Fazio designed the championship course on 200 leased acres, opening for play in spring 1965; the club takes its name from its proximity to the home of Revolutionary War General 'Mad' Anthony Wayne. It has since hosted PGA Tour SEI Classic events (2000 and 2002) and the 2019 Pennsylvania State Open.
