Thinking About Living in Pittsburgh Field Club?

Pittsburgh Field Club began as the Pittsburgh Cricket Club as early as 1871 and formally incorporated in 1882, making it the oldest sporting facility in the Pittsburgh region. Golf arrived in 1895 on land owned by Carnegie Steel chairman Henry Clay Frick; the club moved to its present Fox Chapel site in 1915, where Alexander Findlay laid out the current course. In 1937, the club hosted the PGA Championship, won by Denny Shute over Jug McSpaden in a 37-hole final -- a genuine major-championship credential shared by only a handful of Pennsylvania clubs.
Pittsburgh Field Club sits in the same Fox Chapel borough as Fox Chapel Golf Club, one of the wealthiest and most established residential enclaves in the Pittsburgh metro, giving it the same borough-level residential relevance without a purpose-built subdivision of its own.
