Port Royal Golf & Racquet Club operates three historic 18-hole courses inside Port Royal Plantation, one of Hilton Head Island's most prestigious fully gated, residential-only communities (no short-term rentals permitted). The club rotates member and public play across its courses and layers an optional paid membership on top of a genuinely upscale residential setting.

Golf & Course

Barony, built in 1963 by George W. Cobb, was one of the first courses on Hilton Head Island. Robber's Row, originally a 1967 Cobb/Byrd design, was redesigned by Pete Dye in 1994 and sits on former Civil War grounds with historical markers. Planter's Row, a 1983 Willard C. Byrd design, is the newest of the three, with water in play on 10 of 18 holes. In 1997, Golf Magazine recognized the club with a Silver Medal Resort award for its three courses.

Membership & Access

Does buying a home here include club membership?

No — homeownership does not automatically include membership. See details below.

Membership is optional and not required for Port Royal Plantation property ownership; the club operates a semi-private rotation model where courses alternate between member-only and public play. Property owners have a specific mechanism to retain resident-eligibility status for up to five years via a partial deposit/dues arrangement.
