Fawn Lake is a gated, 2,300-acre golf-and-lake community about 12 miles west of Fredericksburg in Spotsylvania County, built around a private 288-acre lake with more than seven miles of shoreline and an Arnold Palmer-designed 18-hole golf course (1997, 7,010 yards from the tips). Fawn Lake Country Club operates the golf course, four Har-Tru clay tennis courts, and lakeside dining at the Harbor Club.
Club membership is genuinely separate from home ownership. Homeowners in good HOA standing receive only limited complimentary privileges -- golf and tennis use once per quarter for up to four people, and quarterly household dining at the Harbor Club -- not full club access. Full golf or social membership is a distinct application with its own initiation fee and dues, and is open to non-residents as well; owning a Fawn Lake home is neither required for, nor does it guarantee, Country Club membership.
