Sahalee Country Club is the Seattle area's most nationally recognized golf address: a 27-hole, Ted Robinson Sr.-designed private club carved from evergreen forest east of Seattle starting in the late 1960s (the first 18 holes opened August 1969, the remaining nine in July 1970), and the site of three of the biggest championships ever played in the Pacific Northwest -- the 1998 PGA Championship, the 2010 U.S. Senior Open, and the KPMG Women's PGA Championship twice, in 2016 and 2024. The North, South, and East nines have also seen a modern restoration by Rees Jones and Steve Weisser.

The club is the anchor of a genuinely gated, 24/7-staffed residential neighborhood of roughly 200-250 homes in northeastern Sammamish, and homes inside those gates trade infrequently (real estate sources describe fewer than 15-20 sales a year). Importantly for a golf-oriented buyer, residency and club membership are two separate systems here: you can buy inside the gates without joining Sahalee Country Club, and you can join the club without living in the neighborhood. The prestige of the address and the prestige of the membership reinforce each other, but neither one automatically grants the other.

Golf & Course

Ted Robinson Sr. told the club's founders in the late 1960s that a top-quality 27-hole layout would require roughly 80 additional acres of land beyond their original site -- advice they followed. The resulting North, South, and East nines opened in stages (1969-1970) and went on to host the 1998 PGA Championship (won by Vijay Singh), the 2010 U.S. Senior Open, the 2016 KPMG Women's PGA Championship (won by Brooke Henderson in a playoff over Lydia Ko), and the 2024 KPMG Women's PGA Championship (won by Amy Yang). Rees Jones and Steve Weisser have since overseen a renovation of the layout.
