Connect With a Local Real Estate Specialist

Cypress Point Club is one of the most exclusive private golf clubs in the world: an invitation-only club with an unusually small membership, no public or resort access of any kind, and a course routinely ranked among the top 5 in the United States and the world by major golf publications.

Golf & Course

Designed by Alister MacKenzie with Robert Hunter and opened in 1928, Cypress Point Club is renowned for its dramatic closing stretch along the rocky Pacific coastline, including the famous par-3 16th played across an ocean inlet. It has never hosted a modern professional major but was a rotation venue of the old AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (Bing Crosby Pro-Am) for decades before withdrawing from the tournament rotation in the early 1990s.

Membership & Access

Does buying a home here include club membership?

No — homeownership does not automatically include membership. See details below.

There is no purchase path of any kind: play is strictly by member invitation, and the club does not publish an application process for outsiders. Cypress Point withdrew from the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament rotation in the early 1990s. Owning a home nearby, including on 17-Mile Drive, confers no access.

Location & Surrounding Area

Del Monte Forest, Pebble Beach, adjacent to (but corporately independent of) the Pebble Beach Company's resort courses.

What Buyers Should Verify

  • Cypress Point Club does not publish membership terms or fees; the ~250-member figure and 'costs divided among members' model are widely reported but not officially confirmed by the club itself -- there is effectively no public source to check further short of direct club contact.

Notable

  • Membership widely reported at roughly 250, among the smallest of any major American private club.
  • Alister MacKenzie/Robert Hunter design (1928), consistently ranked among the top courses in the world.
  • A former rotation venue of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (Bing Crosby Pro-Am), later withdrawn from the tournament.
