Peninsula Golf & Country Club
Originally founded as The Beresford Country Club in 1911; golf-course architect Donald Ross completely redesigned the course in 1920, making it the only Donald Ross course on the West Coast. Golfing membership is capped at 350 Proprietary Members, by invitation with a required sponsor and interview process. Hosted the 1931 Trans-Mississippi Amateur and the 1947 U.S. Women's Amateur.

What to Independently Verify
Membership is explicitly capped (350 Proprietary Members) and invitation/sponsor-based -- a well-documented barrier to entry directly from the club's own site. No numeric initiation fee/dues figures were found at a primary source this session. No bundled residential development with deeded access to the club was found; it sits within established San Mateo residential neighborhoods.
