Kohanaiki is a 450-acre private club community fronting a mile and a half of Kona Coast shoreline, developed with Kennedy Wilson's involvement and opened for lot sales in 2013 -- making it the newest of the Kona-Kohala Coast's three mandatory-membership flagship clubs (alongside the older Kukio and Hualalai). Up to 400 residences are planned, including roughly 75 ocean- and golf-view custom homesites ranging from about a half-acre to over an acre, most offering views of the ocean, sunset, the golf course, or Maui's Haleakala across the channel.
The centerpiece is a Rees Jones-designed 18-hole course that opened in spring 2013 and is reported to carry more oceanfront holes (six) than any other course in Hawai'i. A 67,000-square-foot clubhouse, resort-style pools and beach bar, tennis and pickleball courts, farm-to-table dining, a fitness center and spa, and adventure programming (diving, cultural tours, canoe sailing) round out the amenity base.
Kohanaiki runs a simpler membership structure than several of its Kona-Kohala peers: there is only one membership level, extended to homeowners, property owners, or participants in the club's Hale Club fractional-ownership program. There is no non-member path to using the club's amenities.
Golf & Course
Rees Jones designed Kohanaiki's 18-hole course, which opened in spring 2013 and is reported to include six oceanfront holes -- more than any other course in Hawai'i.
Membership & Access
Does buying a home here include club membership?
Kohanaiki membership is single-tier and tied to ownership: buyers must be a homeowner, property owner, or Hale Club fractional-ownership member to access the club and course. There is no separate, non-ownership membership path.
