North Hills Country Club was founded in 1927 at what is now Douglaston Park before relocating to its current North Hills site in 1961. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the new course, routing it through the wooded former Allen-Boggs-Levitt estates while preserving much of the land's natural flow; Rees Jones carried out further course work in 2016. The club sits within the Incorporated Village of North Hills, a low-density, large-lot municipality incorporated in 1929 and covering about 2.8 square miles.
